Lava Tubes Hike

This weekend we went to Flagstaff and camped overnight. We left on Friday afternoon and found a spot near the Lava tubes. Jake's Mom and Dad came and his brother Joel and Christina and their kids. We took the tent trailer which has really been great. I love it! We set up camp, and then sat around the campfire and told a few stories and jokes. Jake told his immortal porpoises joke which is the one he told me when we were dating and I knew then that it was true love! The next morning we had breakfast, egg burritos of course! The guys and the kids played softball in the road and then we headed out to the Lava tubes. It is very narrow going in and really rocky. It is a big cave inside that goes for about a mile long. It was dark througout so everyone had a flashlight.
When we got back we had lunch and then packed up. On the way home, we stopped at the Deer Farm. I remember going there as a kid about Sammi's age. It was before we had moved to Arizona. It was so neat to have the deer come right up and eat right out of your hand. The kids loved it and we saw reindeer and buffalo, peacocks and some other animals.

Triathlon

Jake entered a sprint triathlon with his brother Joel and a friend from the ward Glade Smith. Sammi and Rebecca came with his parents to cheer him on. They thought it was so neat to run across the finish line with him.

our trip to Utah

We went for our family vacation to Utah. Our first stop was to Lake Powell for two days. Jake rented a ski boat and they had so much fun swimming, tubing and attempting to wakeboard and waterski. We took our tent trailer and camped in the campground. It was pretty hot, but not terrible.

We then headed to Provo and stayed in a hotel for two days. We got to see Mary and Aaron and little James. We walked around Thanksgiving Point and went to their barn with animals, a pony ride and hayride. It was a lot of fun. Later we swam at our hotel pool. Aaron was great at playing games with the kids in the pool. That night we met up with Shane and my Dad, who was up for a race he was running with Shane. We went to a Thai place and it was really yummy. Went to Shanes place after for Masterpiece and Balderdash. So funny!

The last stop on our vacation was the family reunion at Mutual Dell, up American Fork Canyon. The kids had so much fun playing, and they had it so well organized. Kimball said " This is the best day of my life". They had an outdoor movie, a big bouncy slide, a cool zipline and lots of good food. We camped in our trailer and it was nice weather. Tanner called the zipline the "ziploc bag". It was a really fun trip.

new blogger

My brother Shane has been encouraging me to start a blog so it has been fun learning how to do it. My sister in law Julie came over and taught me a few things. Thanks Julie!
